Hottest Derby Matches Of Premier League 2023-2024

Every Premier League season has 38 crucial matchdays, and this year is no exception. The fixture lists for the 2023-24 season have been released, and each of the 20 teams in the English top flight now knows when they will face their oldest rivals, as well as the league’s newcomers: Luton Town, Burnely, and Sheffield United.

The biggest rivalries clash in ‘derbies,’ and while a win is still three points, the clashes are often referred to as “six-point wins” due to the added pressure. They have fans all over the world glued to their televisions, and some of the most raucous stadium crowds of the season.

Take a look at the schedules for some of the biggest derbies that are on the horizon.

– First leg (Manchester United vs Manchester City)

When: Saturday 28 October 2023 – matchday 10

Where: Old Trafford

– Second leg (Manchester City vs Manchester United)

When: Saturday 2 March 2024 – matchday 27

Where: Etihad Stadium

Both clubs finished inside the top three last season but had disastrous road records against elite competition. City and United combined for just one win away from home against teams finishing in the top nine of the Premier League.

United earned just one point in these difficult away games, conceding 28 goals in eight games – six of which were losses.

Because of the abundance of London clubs, every month of the 2023/24 season will feature at least one capital derby. December is the most densely populated month of the year for all-London affairs, as is often the case in an effort to reduce travel distance during the holiday season.

Arsenal will host West Ham on Boxing Day for the second year in a row, while Chelsea will face Crystal Palace on the same day for the first time since 1989.

Six of the division’s seven London clubs have been scheduled to play each other on the extremely busy weekend of August 19, 2023. While the exact timing of the log jam may change to avoid complete chaos, it is probably best to avoid the tube that afternoon if at all possible.

It is frequently stated that there are no easy games in the Premier League any longer. That is especially true when the pool of opponents is limited to London clubs. Last season, half of the Premier League’s top 12 were from London. West Ham was the only outlier, but they still won the European Cup.

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Arsenal will face Tottenham Hotspur in the first north London match of the new season.

Because it is only the fourth game of the 2023/24 Premier League season, early bragging rights could be crucial in gaining momentum.

The two clubs will then be separated for the majority of the season before renewing hostilities near the end of the season.

Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge fizzled out in April last season, and if they find themselves in a similar position again next season, the rematch could be a barnstormer. Tottenham will welcome the Gunners on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Following the second meeting, there will be only three Premier League games left in the season, so a lot could be on the line. Both sets of kick-off times have been initially scheduled for 3pm at the moment but are subject to radio and TV picks.
